- Sub: Re: USENIX C++ Conference…
-
- A key observation about this year's conference was voiced by Rob Murray in his
- April editor of the ``C++ Report.'' The conference was full of papers reporting
- actual _use_ of the language on ``real'' projects. Earlier conferences were
- full of proposed and actual hacks to the language itself. In short, it looks
- like the C++ language is usable -- and in use -- for serious development
- projects.
-
- Kent has done a good job of presenting the highlights. One detail he forgot to
- mention is that Michael Tiemann's presentation on exceptions was basically a
- report of an _implementation_. His g++ is rumored to be running on A/UX, so
- you may have a chance to actually use exceptions in your C++ code.
